NAS100 Analysis

Last week's soft CPI inflation report confirmed the resumption of the disinflation trend, strengthening the case for a Fed pivot and boosting market bets, which now price in three rate cuts within the year. The Fed has adopted a cautious stance, but the latest encouraging figures "do add somewhat" to confidence that inflation is moving sustainably to the 2% target according to Chair Powell's speech at the Economic Club of Washington [1], who appears to be laying the groundwork for a September cut.

NAS100 benefits from market optimism for a less restrictive monetary stance ahead and made a strong stat to the week. Bulls are in control, with the ability to push for new record highs and challenge the 21K mark. On the other hand, market pricing around the Fed is likely stretched and last Thursday's slump reflects concerns over the concentration of the rally. As such, there is scope for a pullback that would test the EMA200 (at around 19,750). Daily closes below it would pause the bullish momentum, but strong catalyst would be need for that.

Markets now turn to the Q2 earnings of Netflix, which kicks thing off for Big Tech. The steaming leader has experienced a revenue and subscriber acceleration in recent quarters, thanks to the password-sharing crackdown and the ad-supported tier. Executives see new record revenues, but lower additions form a year ago [2], as the growth runway is getting shorter. Advertising progress and live sports planning will be in focus.
