How do I install and apply Indicators on MetaTrader 4?

Install Indicator:

In order to install an indicator for MetaTrader 4 please follow these steps:

Step 1: Navigate to “File” in the upper left hand corner and then select "Open Data Folder"

Step 2: From there navigate to the folder called "MQL4"

Step 3: From there navigate to the folder called "Indicators"

Step 4: Drag and drop the indicators that you want to install into this folder

Step 5: Close the folder windows

Step 6: Close the MetaTrader 4 platform

Step 7: Open the MetaTrader 4 platform and the indicators should be installed

Please Note: If after following these steps your indicators are not installed please take the following steps:

Ensure that all the steps were followed
Ensure that MetaTrader 4 was restarted after the indicator installation
If the indicators are still not working please Reinstall MetaTrader 4

Please be sure that all profiles and templates are backed up before reinstalling!

Apply Indicator On Chart

In order to show the indicator on the chart please follow these steps:

Step 1: Open the chart that you would like to use the indicator on by right clicking on the pair and pressing “Chart Window”

Step 2: Navigate to “Insert” in the tool bar on the top

Step 3: Navigate to "Indicators"

If it is a custom indicator it will be in the section "Custom"

Step 4: Select the desired indicator

Step 5: If a menu opens to configure options navigate to the "Common" tab

Make sure that "Allow DLL Imports" is checked

Step 6: Press Ok

The indicator should now be on your chart.

Please Note: If after following these steps your indicators are not showing please take the following steps:

Ensure that all the steps were followed
Try restarting the MetaTrader 4 and adding the indicator
If the indicators are still not working please Reinstall MetaTrader 4
