📊 Gold / FX / Index Daily Update | 19 August 2026
Dear traders - today’s main question is:

How hawkish was the Fed really in July?

The answer may come at 2:00 p.m. ET, when the Federal Reserve releases its July meeting minutes. Three voting members wanted a rate increase at that meeting, making the internal discussion especially important for USD, Treasury yields, Gold, NAS100 and Crypto.

Tuesday was a difficult session for technology:
Dow -0.22%
S&P 500 -0.69%
Nasdaq -1.33%
Semiconductor Index approximately -5%.

🟡 GOLD WATCH — XAUUSD
Quick View:
Gold fell around 1.6% to approximately $4,345.

Key levels:
$4,300 support / $4,350 pivot / $4,400-$4,450 resistance

Why watch it?
Gold is currently balancing:
✅ geopolitical uncertainty
✅ softer U.S. economic data

against:
⚠️ high long-term Treasury yields
⚠️ possible Fed tightening risk
⚠️ firmer USD

Today’s Fed minutes may influence which side becomes dominant.

🔥 OIL WATCH — WTI / BRENT
Tuesday close:
Brent → $91.02
WTI → $84.94.

Key levels:
Brent $90 / $91-$92 / $95
WTI $82 / $84-$85 / $87

Oil remains highly sensitive to the Middle East.

Iran has maintained a more aggressive position and the Strait of Hormuz remains closed, keeping a significant supply-risk premium in the market.

💵 FX WATCH — USDJPY / EURUSD
USDJPY
USDJPY finished around 159.64.

Key levels:
159.00 / 159.50 / 160.00

The pair is caught between:
• elevated U.S. yields
• rising Japanese bond yields
• possible BOJ tightening
• intervention risk

⚠️ 160 remains the key psychological area.

EURUSD
EURUSD finished near 1.1574.

Key levels:
1.1550 / 1.1600 / 1.1650

Fed-minutes interpretation may become today’s main USD catalyst.

📈 US INDEX WATCH — US30 / NAS100 / SPX500
Tuesday:
Dow -0.22%
S&P 500 -0.69%
Nasdaq -1.33%.

The market is now testing an important relationship:

Higher Oil → higher inflation expectations → higher bond yields → lower growth-stock valuations.

That was particularly visible in semiconductor stocks.

🤖 AI STOCKS WATCH — NVIDIA / SEMICONDUCTORS
Tuesday was the sharpest semiconductor selloff in several weeks:

Philadelphia Semiconductor Index: -5%
Nvidia: -2.4% → $219.74
Micron: approximately -7%
SanDisk: approximately -9%.

Nvidia key levels:
$215 support / $220 pivot / $225-$230 resistance

Why watch it?
AI infrastructure demand remains strong.

But investors are increasingly focused on:
• financing costs
• corporate borrowing
• return on AI investment
• Treasury yields
• valuations
• earnings expectations

When bond yields rise, high-duration AI stocks can become more sensitive to valuation compression.

🚘 TESLA / ALPHABET / INTEL
Tuesday:
Tesla -0.8%
Alphabet broadly flat
Intel -6.6%.

Intel was particularly weak as selling broadened across semiconductor names.

Key focus:
• Tesla sensitivity to higher yields
• Alphabet AI monetisation
• Intel turnaround and manufacturing execution
• NAS100 breadth
• Fed-minutes reaction

🌏 ASIA INDEX WATCH
HKG33
Tuesday:
Hang Seng +0.07% → 25,471.15.

Key levels:
25,000 / 25,500 / 26,000

Hong Kong was relatively resilient despite the global semiconductor weakness.

JPN225
Tuesday:
Nikkei -2.54% → 67,460.73.

Key levels:
67,000 / 67,500 / 68,500-69,000

Japanese technology shares were hit by the semiconductor selloff, while higher Japanese government-bond yields added pressure.

₿ CRYPTO WATCH — BITCOIN

Bitcoin is around $64,389, up roughly 0.4% from its previous reference close.

Key levels:
$63,000 support / $64,000-$64,500 pivot / $65,000 resistance

Bitcoin has so far shown better relative resilience than NASDAQ.

But today’s Fed minutes may affect:

• USD liquidity
• Treasury yields
• Fed expectations
• risk appetite

📌 TODAY’S KEY FOCUS — WEDNESDAY

🇺🇸 2:00 p.m. ET — FEDERAL RESERVE JULY MEETING MINUTES

At the July meeting:

Policy rate: 3.50%–3.75%
Decision: Hold
Three voting members: favored a rate increase.

The market will look for:

• How widespread were inflation concerns?
• How worried was the Fed about Oil and energy inflation?
• How much concern existed over weaker employment?
• Was September tightening actively discussed?
• How divided was the FOMC?
