Commerzbank (FWB: CBK) is a large German business bank, founded in 1870 and based in Frankfurt am Main. The bank has about 30,000 corporate clients and around 11 million private and small-business customers in the country. It also employs nearly 48,000 people.[1]
Commerzbank caters mainly to Germany's Mittelstand, which are small and medium-size companies, as well as large corporations and institutional clients. It says it transacts about 30% of Germany's foreign trade. The bank also does business in Poland, where its mBank digital bank subsidiary serves about 5.5 million customers, mainly in Poland but also in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.[1]
In the first three quarters of 2021, Commerzbank reported revenues of €6.36 billion, up from €6.16 billion in the comparable 2020 period. It reported net income of €9 million, after restructuring expenses of €1.05 billion, which was an improvement from the €168 million loss in the first nine months of 2020.[2]
